Pilates In The Schools Initiative
The PMA’s groundbreaking exercise initiative, "Pilates in the Schools" creating Healthy Habits for Life, will also be featured at this year’s Pilates Day national event. The Pilates in the Schools program was developed to bring Pilates to children in public schools to help combat our nationwide struggle involving childhood obesity.
So far, a pilot program organized by PMA board member Dawn Marie Ickes is producing remarkable results. A DVD has been created to help promote the program and contacts are being made with local, state, and federal agencies to help create additional awareness. For more information on this initiative, please email Jessica Groper at jessicag@pilatesmethodalliance.org.
